To be as worthy as her

O to be, as worthy as her,
Mary, at the feet of Jesus
To be as worthy as her heart, so humble,
her eyes, so open to see you,
Her soul so malleable as to be moved by You.
O to be as worthy as her mind, so embedded in the world,
and yet so courageous as to break her heart from it, in an instant.
To be as worthy as her tears
That touched the blessed dirt on Your feet.
To be as worthy as the strand of her hair that caressed
the straps of your sandals.
To be as worthy as her hands that grazed the ground that held the weight of your majesty.
O to be as worthy as her perfume
whose scent was inhaled by the Sense that created cause for our senses.

Learn my soul, listen and watch,
Open your being to be touched, to be moved,
Open your heart to joy and pain,
Revel in true reality and true beauty,
Embrace true life with her perfume and her thorns,
For in dark depths of our brokenness, we find cause for the love and mercy of so great a king.
